How Many Tabs Do You Have Open Right Now?
Alex Hillman
Right now, somewhere in one of your computer or phone’s browser windows, there is at least one tab you haven’t closed for some reason.
- Maybe it’s an article you read three weeks ago that changed how you think about something.
- Maybe it’s a weird tool you stumbled on and keep meaning to show someone.
- Maybe it’s a recipe, a research paper, a Reddit thread, a YouTube video you’ve watched four times.
You don’t need it right now. You could close it.
But you don’t — because something about it stuck.
I’m convinced that everybody has at least one of these tabs. I know I have a bunch of them.
And the interesting part isn’t the tab itself.
It’s why you’re keeping it open.
Our hunch is that “why” might be something worth sharing.
It’s the reason the best conversations at Indy Hall happen when someone says “oh, have you seen this?” and turns their laptop around.
So what if we turned that moment into a fun Friday event?
Introducing: KEEPING TABS
On Friday February 13th 👻 we’re going to try it, and you’re invited.
KEEPING TABS is our newest community event, a brilliant little brainchild from Adam.
If you’re familiar with formats like Ignite or Pecha Kucha, we love these 5 minute lightning talks.
But even when folks want to present, the #1 resistance is always the same.
“I don’t really have time to make slides.”
So KEEPING TABS gives you the same 5 minutes…but no prep needed!
Instead of slide decks, you just pull up that browser tab. Or a few tabs! And start talking.
You can share a fun hot take. An object of fascination. Something you found on the internet that you can’t stop thinking about. A subject you care about more than most people. Something you wish more people knew.
That’s it. Five minutes and a tab.
Come share yours
The inaugural Keeping Tabs is at the Indy Hall Clubhouse on Friday, February 13th at 6pm, so we can slide right into it from our weekly happy hour.
Whether you want to present or just come watch, we hope you’ll join!
And between now and then, pay attention to your tabs. Which one have you been keeping open? Why? That’s your talk.
